I promised, I swore I will not get hooked!
I managed thus far.
But succumbed, anyway!
Sigh!
This is my first Korean movie.
Shown on Channel U everynight at 10pm.
I am getting impatient. So, every free minute I have today, I surfed to look for the complete set of clips with English subtitles!
Watch MNISSS on YouTube.
Free and Commercial Free.
Hardly wait for the kids to be in bed.
Will plonk myself and snuggle in the warm quit to watch and watch and watch …
Flag Day September 18, 2006

We signed up for flag day.
Like last year, it was supposed to be a family activity but Papa and yiXiang had to stay home since the painters were at our place. I explained to yiHang the importance of community work. I told him how his effort is going to help the poor, the aged and the sick. Initially, he was a little shy and just stood at a corner holding the empty tin. I told him that he needed to walk around and approach people. Showed him how to do it and soon the boy warmed up and started ‘shoving’ his tin asking for donations. I must say, I was inspired by his enthusiasm.
He was tired. But after short breaks, he was on his feet again. Even when he was sitting down to rest, he was asking people beside him for donations. And within 2 hours, our cans were more than half filled. His can was much heavier than mine!
One kind lady bought him a cold Yakult drink. I rewarded him with an ice cream after we returned the tins to Gong Gong who was stationed at Yishun. Previous years, North Point shopping centre has allowed the organization to use their premise (which is a very small corner, outside the building) as a collection centre but not this year. Thus my dad was stationed under the void deck of one of the flats in Yishun. His role was to wait for people to return the donation cans. He was there as early as 7 in the morning until very late in the evening. It was bored. Not to mention hot and humid too.
While, many may applaud yiHang for his effort, my compliments go to my parents who are very active volunteers after their retirement. My mom took up a course in counseling right after retirement and volunteers as a counselor once a week. She also commits her time at a student care centre. Both my parents are also very active Buddhist volunteers. My dad conducts lessons and does editorial work. Frankly, I could not name the whole spectrum of their volunteer work but every time I speak of my parents, I beam with pride.

I suddenly remembered that we entered yiHang’s writing into this competition and went to check out the results.
He won 4th prize!
Not that his peice was exceptionally good. Also, there were only few entries. But it was refreshing to look at the exhibition through a child’s eyes.
We are thrilled, anyway.
Long Update September 10, 2006

Ok. There was a life besides Korean movies. Just that I did not have time to update. Anyway, the K-drama craze had to come to a halt because the September school break is over and I have to attend to some other important issues like working on my next MA(IDT) assignment and repainting of our home.
Tuesday
Watched Clifford, the Big Red Dog live musical. yiHang was disappointed when he was not selected to go on stage for the games but the boys enjoyed singing and dancing. Papa joined us after work and all of us have Korean food for dinner.
Thursday
Met up with my mom and sis for ice-cream. Hagen Dasz was not serving the chocolate fondue which yiHang has been yearning for the longest time. So we went to Swensons where the boys were delighted with a scoop of ice-cream each and fought over the last few pieces of fat juicy fries.
Friday
The house was in a great mess. Initially we had wanted to get this (cost a good 2K+) for the boys. On second thought, it was not worth it because we do not have the space to accommodate a bigger unit. Thus, we got the carpenter to do an extension to our existing desk.
yiHang was extremely disappointed because Papa had took half a day off to bring us to Sentosa to build sand castles but the workers who came in the morning, did not complete the job until late in the evening.
The kids went over to their grandparents home for dinner while hubby and I stole some time for ourselves. We went for Penang Food at York’s hotel – something that hubs never fail to bring me to savour those dearly missed food from my hometown.
Saturday.
We decided to re-paint part of our home because the previous painters did a very sloppish job which was an eye sore. Another great disappointment for yiHang. We had promised to bring him to Javis’ and Josphine’s birthday party but the painters did not leave till late evening and we had to clean up the mess.
yiHang was itching all over. Allergic to the dust and paint so the boys spend another night at their grandparents place. Painting will be going on for another couple of days. Don’t know how we are going to survive.
Sunday.
The day we have been looking forward to – the bunz’ GuGu and GuChang is back for a visit from the States. My in-laws had a house warming. Cousins, Uncles, Aunts, YiYi, GuGu, Greatgrandma, Grand aunts, Grand uncles, YeYe – everyone was there. Feels like Chinese New Year. What a bash.
Since everyone was there, we celebrated yiXiang’s 2nd birthday in advance. He was kind of BLUR as we woke him up from his nap for the cake cutting. But of course, he enjoyed his cake very much.

Thanks for this recommendation. I’ve not started, as I am determined to finish my assignments first.
*WILL POWER* *WILL POWER*
My hubby taught me the art of watching movies on YouTube. You’ve to open up a few windows and download the clips simultaneously. i.e Window 1 – Ep 1.1, Window 2 – Ep 1.2 and so forth. Mute the episodes that you are not watching. But not too many windows though. Once, I opened up 10 windows and my laptop CRASHED!
The clips are uploaded in 10 minutes chunk. So, I would surf to ensure that I have all the episodes before starting to watch them.
So much for sharing.
Happy being addicted, with me.
